Dayton, Ohio, Bail Bonds Lawyers

Getting arrested and being housed in a jail on charges can be at best a hassle, and at worst a life altering event. But there are things that can be done in this situation.

Bond is money that is posted with the courts to insure a person's attendance at their court hearings during the course of their case. In Ohio, bond can take three forms.

  1. A personal recognizance bond. This essentially means the person is free to leave and the court trusts that the person will appear at all hearings. However often times an O.R. Bond (own recognizance) has conditions attached to it.

  2. A bail bond of 10% that is posted with the clerk of courts. 90% of that deposit will be returned to the person who posted the bond.

  3. A surety bond or cash. Almost always posted by a bail bondsman. Generally, the money you pay to a bail bondsmen is their fee for posting the bond with the court, and will not be returned to you.

The court will specify the type of bond that may be posted at the arraignment, or initial court appearance on the charges. The attorneys of Ross and Calaway understand the bond system. They fight hard to get you promptly released from jail and avoid the hassles of dealing with bond issues.

If a bond is posted, Ross & Calaway has the knowledge and ability to go to the courts or judges to seek bond reductions, modifications or conditional releases, including home detention and monitoring while your case is pending.

Being released on bond while your case is pending can be vital to maintaining your job and your family life, and is a great advantage because the attorneys of Ross & Calaway are able to work more closely with you in strategizing and preparing your case for court.
